I have been knitting for over 20 years, and I have always enjoyed knitting the rib stitch or the moss stitch. Since I started designing patterns 10 years ago, I have realized that many knitters detest knitting the rib or moss stitch. Mostly because they do not like switching between the purl and the knit stitch frequently. They say that it slows down their knitting.
However, I have been knitting this stitch for a long time and I have always liked it. I especially like the look of the moss stitch, and I find I use it a lot in my designs.
Since I was a self taught knitter, I feel that I learned a different method than others. I found a method that works very well for me. This is a continental style knitting, however, it is not exactly the same. I do not hold my yarn away from the needles. My index finger holds the yarn very close to the left needle.
I decided to create a video showing how I knit the rib stitch, or how I switch between a knit and a purl stitch. Maybe this will help you on your knitting journey.
I have also created videos on how I work the knit stitch and the purl stitch. You can check them out here:
