The sleeves for a top down raglan sweater are knit in the round after the body of the sweater has been knit.
Since the sleeves are knit in the round, there are a few methods you have use to knit the sleeves.
- double pointed needles (dpns)
- 2 circular needles
- magic loop
The most common way to knit the sleeves would be with 4 dpns. I find this method tedious. If you put your sweater away, there is a good chance that one of the dpns may fall off the needles.
I also have used 2 circular needles. This method works quite well. You will need 2 of the same size needles to work this method.
This tutorial shows my favourite way to knit sleeves of a raglan sweater – how to work magic loop for a raglan sweater sleeve. You will need a long circular needle in the required size. Check out the tutorial and let me know what you think!
