Christmas Yarn Colour Palette
The snow is falling and the temperatures are dropping. It’s time to put the Christmas music going, grab a warm blanket (probably the Seamless Knit Square Afghan of 2017) and reach for our favourite Christmas knits! When this time of year comes, we find ourselves reaching for those deep Christmasy hued yarns.
We’ve put together a palette of our favourite Christmas yarn colours, as well as a pattern suggestion for each colour. Time to get festive! These knits are great for winter time, or as knitted Christmas gifts. We’ve provided a link to each individual yarn, just click on the colour name in the list below.
1. Red Wine Heather
The deep red of this yarn says winter and Christmas parties to us. The yarn shown here is a worsted weight, which would be great for Christmas get together attire! It would work well with Adult Ella’s Sweater.
2. Shire
Doesn’t this yarn make you think of evergreen trees? I can almost smell the tree as it’s being brought inside in early December. This yarn would be awesome in a pair of mittens, like our Ava Mittens.
3. Cherry Collage
Cherry Candy Canes were always a favourite in our house at Christmas time. This yarn has us back to our childhood, enjoying candy canes and flipping through the Sears Wish Book. Those were the days. This yarn would work beautifully as a gift on our FREE Song of Fall Hat.
4. Olive
Red and Green say Christmas every time. We never had the real mistletoe decorations, but doesn’t this green look like the colour of the mistletoe you see everywhere at Christmas time, on cards or in store windows? This bright and festive green yarn would be a great match for the Winter Solstice Shawl.
5. Winter White
Maybe you get snow at Christmas time, and maybe not. Here in Saskatchewan we always wish for a white winter. This yarn reminds me a blanket of snow on Christmas morning. A great pattern for this colour is our Joy Pillow Cover.
6. Mistletoe
This great multi colour yarn is perfect for Christmas time. As cotton yarn, it would be a great gift idea to knit our Mother’s Day Towel and Pot Holder Set for a festive Christmas gift that could be pulled out year after year!
