After designing two child Mermaid tail blankets My Mermaid Tail and Ariel Mermaid Tail, I was asked to up the pattern size to accommodate adults. This pattern comes in 5 adult sizes from XS to XL.

This tail is knit in the round and is completely seamless. It is designed with a cable pattern accompanied with the moss stitch. A very fun and rewarding knit!

Sizes: (Circumference x length)
XS: 35” (89 cm) x 46” (117 cm)
S: 35” (89 cm) x 46” (117 cm)
M: 40” (101.5 cm) x 48” (122 cm)
L: 44” (112 cm) x 50” (127 cm)
XL: 48” (122 cm) x 52 cm (132 cm)
This tail is knit with Red Heart Soft worsted weight yarn. However, any worsted weight yarn will work.
Gauge: 18 st = 4”; 24 rows = 4” in moss stitch
18 st = 4”; 24 rows = 4” in double rib stitch
Needles: 5 mm [US 8] circular needles
2 x 5 mm dpns
Use size of needles to get gauge.
Yardage: 1600 (1700, 1800, 1900, 2000) yards
You will also need a cable needle, tapestry needle and a ruler.
This pattern is written out and partially charted.
